West Surrey Athletics

West Surrey Athletics (WSA) is an annual competition for young athletes attending Prep schools throughout Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire. Top performers in each discipline are invited to attend the annual National Prep School Athletics meeting held in Alexander Stadium, Birmingham in June of each year.

Founded in 1977, WSA is one of 13 regions nationwide and is open to girls and boys competing in Under 10 to Under 14 age groups, although only Under 12, Under 13 and Under 14 will go forward to compete at National level.

Prep schools throughout the region are eligible to apply provided that they are members of IAPS. Schools in neighbouring counties can also enter, provided both boys and girls from each school attend the same regional competition.

WSA normally attracts in the region of 400 boys and 200 girls each year from 40 different schools and is organised by a committee of Prep School teaching staff.

The main events are held on separate days for boys and girls and are normally held at Thames Valley Athletics Centre at Eton College, John Nike Athletics Stadium, Bracknell or Aldershot Military Stadium and the venue is confirmed, together with dates, on an annual basis.
